zero-emissions vehicle: The Bicycle!
According to recent studies (see references at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_change ), the greenhouse effect, which is the warming produced as greenhouse gases trap heat, plays a key role in regulating Earth's temperature. Rising carbon dioxide (CO2) levels have been the primary cause of global warming since 1950. Every gallon of gasoline burned produces 20 pounds of CO2 so it’s no surprise that fossil fuel combustion is the most significant factor in the increase in CO2 levels.
Enter the zero-emissions vehicle: The Bicycle! This seems to us to be a no-brainer – that all efforts to slow and even reverse climate change must include replacing motorized trips with bicycles. Unfortunately this is not the case. The bicycle advocacy movement has hit surprising barriers when trying to offer our expertise to officials and even environmental organizations who, instead of advocating for zero emissions trips through bicycling and walking, are spending enormous amounts of money on creating “low” emissions vehicles.
While these efforts to lower emissions of motorized trips are certainly a part of the solution, they do not take into account the amounts of fossil fuels and energy needed to provide for motorized travel:

your Weekend cycling flicks!....
These films aren’t your standard video fare of bikes jumping off cliffs, guys riding wheelies for miles at a time or groups of spandex clad men racing over hill and dale either. No, these are major releases staring some very famous actors and actresses. Some are even Academy Award Winning productions! Some are made with small budgets with actors you have never heard of. Some are made here in the United States while others are from Canada, Great Britain, China and France. Some are cheesy while others very poignant. But all really are simply incredible in their own ways!
Leading off this is :
The true story of Graeme Obree, the Champion cyclist who built his bicycle from old bits of washing machines who won his championship only to have his title stripped from him and his mental health problems which he has suffered since.
When her grandson is kidnapped during the Tour de France, Madame Souza and her beloved pooch Bruno team up with the Belleville Sisters–an aged song-and-dance team from the days of Fred Astaire–to rescue him.
Eccentric man-child Pee-Wee Herman embarks on the big adventure of his life across the US mainland, as he sets out to find his beloved bike, when it is stolen in broad daylight.
Jack Casey used to be a hot-shot stock market whiz kid. After a disastrous professional decision, he joins a speed delivery firm which relies on bicycles to avoid traffic jams of San Francisco.
Two BMX expert bikers and a friend of theirs become entangled with a group of bank robbers after discovering a carton of walkie-talkies.
Laurie, an ex-professional downhill racer returns to Montreal and begins to see what she has to do to make things better for herself.
A seventeen-year-old country boy working in Beijing as a courier has his bicycle stolen, and finds it with a schoolboy his age.
A small-town teen obsessed with the Italian cycling team vies for the affections of a college girl.

Nature Reserve Cycling Track
An area of about roughly 18 hectares consisting mostly of Kerangas (a type of tropical moist forest found on the island of Borneo), it is one of the very few areas of virgin forest still intact within the outskirts of the Kuching city urban core. It is managed by the Sarawak Forest Department. Located within the suburb of Tabuan Jaya, The Sama Jaya Forest Park emphasizes a very strong wilderness theme where all facilities and activities are integrated into the existing natural forest environment. The cycling track itself weaves around trees and under the cover of canopies providing cyclist a safe, peaceful and scenic ride. If you listen you can hear monkeys crashing through the tree branches as they played and search for food. The chorus of cicadas completes the auditory symphony.
The Hiroshima-Sarawak friendship garden is another unique attraction at the park. This traditional Japanese garden, complete with a teahouse is developed collaboratively with the forest department of Hiroshima Prefecture and the Hiroshima Landscape Archictecture Association of Japan to symbolize the close friendship between the peoples of the two states.
Getting or cycling there is easy as it is less than an hour's cycling from Kuching and since the park are open at 0630am, you can have an early start with the cool misty morning air caressing and beckoning you onwards. You can visit Borneo Bicycle Hire the evening before, and hire and bring the cycles along with you without any additional charges.

Kuching city's essential cycling routes....
Forget buses, taxis, motorbikes or just plain walking - if you want to know Kuching up close and personal while having some fun and tones up physically, cycling is a fantastic option to ponder on.
The best part is that you can have a really good time without it costing an arm and a leg - especially with your fellow travel buddies along for the ride.
All you need for a day out on Kuching's cycle routes are your wheels, a helmet, water and perhaps a snack.
Once you know where to begin, you'll be amazed at how many enjoyable rides there are to explore. Here's some must do cycling trips for you to explore. All you need the most of is lots of enthusiasm and an open mind.
The majority are scenic routes, not much traffic than say, Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur, and pass through villages, suburbs, along beaches, undulating mountain roads and via breathtaking lookouts.
Visit Borneo Bicycle Hire kiosk at the Tun Jugah Mall and they can arrange for transportation of both cyclist and bicycles to the starting point of your choice. They also have good road maps available with insurance if you don't already have one yourself.
Top 5 places to consider:
