your Weekend cycling flicks!....
These films aren’t your standard video fare of bikes jumping off cliffs, guys riding wheelies for miles at a time or groups of spandex clad men racing over hill and dale either. No, these are major releases staring some very famous actors and actresses. Some are even Academy Award Winning productions! Some are made with small budgets with actors you have never heard of. Some are made here in the United States while others are from Canada, Great Britain, China and France. Some are cheesy while others very poignant. But all really are simply incredible in their own ways!
Leading off this is :
The true story of Graeme Obree, the Champion cyclist who built his bicycle from old bits of washing machines who won his championship only to have his title stripped from him and his mental health problems which he has suffered since.
When her grandson is kidnapped during the Tour de France, Madame Souza and her beloved pooch Bruno team up with the Belleville Sisters–an aged song-and-dance team from the days of Fred Astaire–to rescue him.
Eccentric man-child Pee-Wee Herman embarks on the big adventure of his life across the US mainland, as he sets out to find his beloved bike, when it is stolen in broad daylight.
Jack Casey used to be a hot-shot stock market whiz kid. After a disastrous professional decision, he joins a speed delivery firm which relies on bicycles to avoid traffic jams of San Francisco.
Two BMX expert bikers and a friend of theirs become entangled with a group of bank robbers after discovering a carton of walkie-talkies.
Laurie, an ex-professional downhill racer returns to Montreal and begins to see what she has to do to make things better for herself.
A seventeen-year-old country boy working in Beijing as a courier has his bicycle stolen, and finds it with a schoolboy his age.
A small-town teen obsessed with the Italian cycling team vies for the affections of a college girl.
